All these elements in combination are necessary to guarantee long-term protection against condensation and high energy efficiency over the maximum service life of the installations. Armacell therefore offers a wide range of specially developed accessories for applying its insulation materials and regularly adds further innovative solutions. The insulation manufacturer recently launched a completely new generation of adhesives, which make installation even easier and allow elastomeric insulation materials to be specified for projects with the highest environmental and health requirements respectively.
ArmaFlex accessories increase the reliability, efficiency and service-life of technical installations
The term “accessories” is misleading. It belies the fact that these products have a key function in technical insulation. Accessory products such as cleaners and adhesives are not mere auxiliaries, but important components of the system. The ArmaFlex accessories have been developed specifically for the various ArmaFlex materials; the products have been subjected to extensive internal and external testing and undergo continuous quality inspections in Armacell’s systematic quality management process. In this way the insulation materials manufacturer ensures the long-term performance and high energy efficiency of its insulation systems. If, however, non-system accessories are used, Armacell can take no responsibility. Incompatible products can lead to technical problems: seams may open if non-system adhesives are applied, incompatible cleaners or paints may even damage the insulation. With system components that are optimally coordinated with each other, professional craftsmen consistently install high reliability and maximum performance.
Professional gluing is essential for high reliability
ArmaFlex insulation materials not only have good technical properties, they are also particularly user friendly because of their high flexibility. However, it is crucial that elastomeric materials are glued professionally. Armacell provides a complete range of ArmaFlex adhesives and the choice depends on the ArmaFlex materials used and the specific requirements of the project in question. Alongside the tried-and-tested standard adhesives, Armacell now offers completely new products that set new standards in the installation of elastomeric insulation materials. The thixotropic, non-drip ArmaFlex RS850 high-performance adhesive can be applied more quickly and neatly than standard adhesives, releases only minimal amounts of solvents when idle and also has a longer shelf-life. With the ArmaFlex SF990 adhesive, Armacell is the first manufacturer to provide solvent-free alternatives for installing its insulation materials. The products have been specifically developed to meet the higher requirements of green building schemes. The water-based dispersion adhesives are odourless and do not release harmful solvents while they are being applied. Furthermore, unlike classic contact adhesives, there is no danger of combustion or explosion and so they are not subject to transport restrictions.
ArmaFlex Ultima and ArmaFlex Rail SD, synthetic rubber insulation materials based on the innovative Armaprene technology, require the use of adhesives that have been specially formulated for this type of foam. For these materials too, Armacell offers in addition to the standard ArmaFlex Ultima 700 adhesive, a gel-like, non-drip product (ArmaFlex Ultima RS850 adhesive) and a solvent-free alternative (ArmaFlex Ultima SF990 adhesive).
To enhance reliability and quality in technical insulation, Armacell has been investing in the training of the trade for decades. In North Europe alone the company trains around 1,200 professional craftsmen in the installation of its products every year.
