Münster, 30 September 2013 – Leading technical practitioners in the liquid natural gas (LNG) industry met at the 8th LNG Tech Global Summit in Barcelona in mid October. At this year’s conference, the latest technological developments and strategic advancements for the rapidly developing LNG sector were on the agenda. Armacell not only sponsored the 3-day event, but was also represented with a booth and contributed a technical presentation.
Thermal-acoustic insulation systems for LNG plant
In his well-attended talk ‘Acoustic treatment of industrial process pipelines with flexible elastomeric foams (FEFs)’, Dr Mark Swift, Armacell Head of Technical Engineered Systems, described the special requirements for insulation systems in the LNG industry. He presented innovative product solutions that provide both thermal and acoustic insulation and also protect the installations against corrosion under insulation (CUI).
Many of the attendees, invited guests from the LNG sector, sought further information at the Armacell booth – an excellent opportunity for Jez Levy, the Armacell’s new European Business Manager for Engineered Systems, to present the company’s product solutions for this area of application.
Low weight, fast installation
The liquefaction of natural gas, storage and transport of the liquid gas and the later regasification demand highly efficient insulation systems. With ArmaFlex Cryogenic Systems and ArmaSound Industrial Systems Armacell provides the global gas industry with solutions that withstand the extreme thermal and mechanical stress, minimize energy losses, protect the installations against corrosion under insulation and at the same time meet the noise control requirements of ISO 15665 ‘Acoustics – Acoustic insulation for pipes, valves and flanges’. The visitors were particularly impressed by the low insulation thicknesses and the fast and simple installation of the flexible insulation systems.
