BUILDING THE FUTURE
Commercial and residential buildings have an important impact on our environment. With their growing functional and structural complexity, designing and managing these buildings efficiently means reducing the energy consumption without compromising the safety and comfort of occupants. Armacell’s best in class equipment insulation solutions save energy, help to cut operating costs and contribute towards a more comfortable experience. Creating sustainable value for your customers.
THE NEW PREMIUM GATEWAY TO BAHRAIN
Boosting its capacity to 14 million passengers annually, the Bahrain International Airport has undergone a 1.1 billion US-Dollar expansion. The new terminal opened in January 2021 and was recently named the world’s best new airport. It is the only commercial airport in the Kingdom of Bahrain and a major hub for air traffic from the Middle East to Europe and Asia. The facility is LEED® Goldcertified, making it the largest green building in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Given Bahrain’s arid climate, with extremely hot and humid summers, insulation was a key focus. While mineral wool was ADPI’s (Aéroports de Paris Ingénierie) first choice, Armacell was able to satisfy the engineering consultant that only a closed-cell material such as AP/ArmaFlex® would ensure long-term reliable performance in this environment. Armacell provided a total solution including AP/ArmaFlex sheets, tubes and accessories, ArmaSound® noise insulation, ArmaClad™ IsoTop coverings, plus a mock-up installation on site and insulation trainings for the contractor.
AP/ARMAFLEX - SOLUTION FOR ENERGY SAVINGS
With up to 85 percent of buildings’ energy consumption being used for cooling air and contributing to climate change, equipment insulation offers enormous energy saving potential in the Middle East. Insulating mechanical equipment with AP/ArmaFlex is one of the simplest and most efficient measures to save energy in commercial and residential buildings. ArmaFlex saves 140 times more energy than is consumed in its production.
VIDA DUBAI MALL
Developed by the emirate’s leading real estate company EMAAR, the new Vida Residences Dubai Mall is a multi-building complex in Downtown Dubai. The 57-storey tower features serviced and branded apartments and
provides unobstructed views of Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountains. Airducts, chilled water and plumbing pipes are protected by 60,000 m² of AP/ArmaFlex sheets and 70,000 m of AP/ArmaFlex tubes.
AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF SHARJAH
As a leading university in the Gulf, American University of Sharjah provides world-class, American-style liberal arts education for over 6,000 students from more than 100 countries. In 2021, Engineering Building 1 of the Department of Civil Engineering had to be renovated. For the insulation of airducts, chilled water and plumbing pipes, the contractor BCG installed AP/ArmaFlex with insulation thicknesses up to 50 mm on ducts and up to 38 mm on pipes. The insulators were trained on the building site.
CAESARS PALACE BLUEWATERS
Home to Ain Dubai, the world’s largest observation wheel, Bluewaters is the latest island destination in Dubai. Comprising two premium hotels, Caesars Palace Bluewaters and Caesars Resort Bluewaters Dubai. Armacell delivered around 325,000 m² of AP/ArmaFlex sheets and 400,000 m of AP/ArmaFlex tubes for the insulation of HVAC equipment, thus ensure visitors stay cool in Dubai’s new hot-spot.
AP/ARMAFLEX
The fibre-free, closed-cell material features a built-in vapour barrier and provides long-term reliable condensation control. AP/ArmaFlex is equipped with Microban®. These antimicrobial additives provide ‘proactive’ protection against harmful bacteria, mould and mildew. It has extremely low VOC emissions and can contribute to green building certification schemes. What’s more: the highly flexible elastomeric foam is pleasant to handle and allows an easy and quick installation.
