LOW-SMOKE INSULATION FOR A CLEAN ROOM
In the pharmaceutical industry, ruling out contamination of medical products and maintaining constant ambient conditions are crucial. Fresenius Kabi once again relied on our low-smoke insulation materials for technical insulation in their new production unit, as with the expansion of its Portuguese plant in 2016. Based on the innovative ArmaPrene™ technology, ArmaFlex Ultima exhibits 10 times less smoke in a fire than a standard elastomeric product, making it a safer solution for cooling equipment.
FIBRE- AND DUST-FREE INSULATION FOR HYGENIC PRODUCTION
Fresenius Kabi's Portuguese subsidiary, Labesfal S.A., is among the top five generic pharmaceutical companies in Portugal. It invested in a new penicillin production unit in 2016 and expanded its industrial complex with a 6,000 m² compounding unit for parenteral nutrition in 2021. The new plant specializes in preparing parenteral nutrition formulas for both pediatric and adult patients. To avoid any kind of contamination which could negatively affect the end product, insulation in cleanroom environments must be dust-free, non-fibrous, and durable.
Dust and moisture create an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, mould and mildew to grow. ArmaFlex Ultima is a closed-cell insulation with a high resistance to water vapour diffusion protecting technical equipment against condensation
in the long term.
HUGE COOLING REQUIREMENTS
With outdoor temperatures of up to 33 °C in summer and a relative humidity of as much as 80 percent in winter, the Labesfal plant has significant air-conditioning requirements. The engineering company Indus Ingenieria y Arquitectura (Barcelona) specified our low-smoke premium material for the insulation of air-conditioning ducts.

With ArmaFlex Ultima we have set a new safety standard in technical insulation. Based on the patented ArmaPrene™ technology, ArmaFlex Ultima is the first flexible technical insulation material in the world with fire class BL-s1,d0 and exhibits 10 times less smoke in a fire than a standard elastomeric foam. Thanks to its low thermal conductivity and high resistance to water vapour diffusion, closed-cell ArmaFlex Ultima ensures reliable condensation control and high energy savings in the long-term.
