Ducting Explored - Condensation control for air ducts
What is condensation?
It's a naturally occurring process that happens when the surrounding air is 100% saturated with water vapour.
Do we want to avoid condensation?
Condensed water dripping from the ceiling not only affects building users it can also damage surfaces and other assets within the building. More importantly, a moist environment is also conducive for mould growth. When this happens microbes could potentially be released and circulated indoors, affecting the health of building users, especially sensitive individuals such as the young and elderly.
How can I solve this?
Always check the water vapour diffusion resistance of the material (µ-value). The higher the value is, the better it is at limiting water vapour ingress. Find out more from our easy-to-read two-page guide on insulation basics.
