Armacell’s latest PET foam innovation on view at Composites Europe 2017: Multi-density foam core made of 100% recycled PET
Luxembourg, Thimister-Clermont, 13 September 2017 - ArmaForm® MultiCore (MC) will be the focus of attention at Composites Europe 2017 from September 19-21. This innovative product will be presented by Armacell, the global leader in innovative and environmentally friendly structural PET foam cores for the composite industry.
Armacell’s new product solution offers a unique combination of properties, including improved compression strength and point load static as well as an increased impact performance and point load dynamic. The use of higher density layers allows for superior screw retention without additional reinforcement – an increase of up to 25-30%. Thanks to the high density upper core layer, ArmaForm MC helps to reduce the amount of resin intake. The lower density core acts as a shock absorber, reducing the stress locally applied to the panel and leading to improved strain failure.
As the well-established ArmaForm range, the PET MC grade is made of 100% post-consumer PET and is also recyclable at the end of its service life. The different layers are bonded by means of a thermo-welding process without the use of adhesive, thus maintaining the product’s 100% recyclability.
Generally, ArmaForm MC grade is designed to replace traditional Plywood-XPS and other multi-ply panels, used in a variety of applications such as load-bearing floor panels in lightweight trucks and trailers, side wall insulation panels in refrigerated trucks, or the body structure in caravans and motorhomes.
