Armacell BIM plug-in for planning technical insulation with Revit software

  • Facilitates the selection and specification of the appropriate thermal and acoustic insulation for HVAC design
  • Online tool to ensure the most up-to-date product information is used for each project
  • Supported by Revit 2017, Revit 2018 and Revit 2019 software versions
  • BIM plug-in download available on www.armacell.com.sg

Singapore, 9 April 2019 – Armacell, a global leader in flexible foam for the equipment insulation market and a leading provider of engineered foams, today announced the release of a new Building Information Modelling (BIM) plug-in, tailor-made for customers in Asia-Pacific.

BIM is a computerised system for modelling specific details of design, engineering and architecture in 3D. It is a key aspect of the virtual design construction methodology, used to simulate the construction process before execution. This allows the detection of potential design and logistics issues, reduces addition and alteration works and ultimately improves productivity.

Specially designed by Armacell, the new plug-in is seamlessly integrated in the Autodesk Revit® software, to help engineers specify the right thermal and acoustic insulation for their entire ducting and piping system design. Depending on the location of the project site, users can access the relevant product information and directly insert the details in their drawings. This makes the planning and design process of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems simpler and faster, and more reliable.

As material thickness depends on defined parameters such as pipe diameter and project specifics (e.g. operating temperatures and humidity conditions), users can use the integrated ArmaWin insulation calculator for guidance on required insulation thickness.

“As a pioneer in future-oriented planning solutions, our BIM plug-in with integrated ArmaWin thermal insulation calculator supports engineering and construction professionals more efficiently plan and design elastomeric insulation projects. We have made the plug-in an online tool to ensure customers always retrieve the most up-to-date product information,” explains Dr Peter Cheng, Armacell’s Technical Marketing Manager APAC.
