Armacell expands industrial footprint in EMEA

  • Growing business presence in the region
  • Strengthening Münster’s position as main manufacturing and innovation hub
  • Reducing transportation footprint

Luxembourg/Münster, 30 June 2022 – Armacell, a global leader in flexible foam for the equipment insulation market and a leading provider of engineered foams, has acquired the decommissioned plant of Knauf Ceiling Solutions GmbH & Co. KG in Münster, Germany.

The new investment expands Armacell’s production and warehouse facilities as well as its research and development (R&D) capabilities to develop next-generation insulation products.

By enhancing its footprint, Armacell Münster will lead the way as a centre of excellence for flexible elastomeric foams and continue to serve as the main manufacturing hub for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Commenting on the investment, Malte Witt, Armacell’s Vice President EMEA and Chief Marketing Officer, said: “Our successful journey in Germany started in 1960, followed by the establishment of the first ArmaFlex® manufacturing facility in 1967. Securing the new site gives us the opportunity to expand our industrial footprint and confidently look to the future.

The investment will have long-term benefits for Armacell, as it will contribute to increasing the local workforce and serving our customers ‘beyond better’.

The location in Münster is ideal for Armacell and provides easy transportation routes to our core markets in the region,” added Daniel Hötger, Armacell’s General Manager Operations EMEA. “This will further enhance our sustainability efforts, firstly by developing and manufacturing energy-saving products and solutions, and then by significantly reducing our transportation footprint.

The total size of the Münster plant will be approximately 225,000 m2, with the newly acquired site accounting for 61,000 m2.
